Weighbridge Load Cell & Mounting
Load Cell is commonly referred as a transducer, converts mechanical force into an electrical signal. Generally, the load cell bends slightly when weight is applied on it.
In compression mounted load cell is directly underneath the weighing equipment like a weighbridge, the load cell compresses when a weight is applied.
A load cell produces an analog signal that is proportional to the applied force, then it transmits this signal to a digital weight indicator that converts analog signal into a digital weight measurement.
When a project requires multiple load cells, each load cell should measure the same proportion of the total weight. So, in a four-load cell system, each should measure exactly one fourth of the load.
Analog Load Cell
This is most common load cell in market work on the strain gauge principle. Most of the load cells need to convert analog values to digital before displaying on the indicator.
Some load cells are directly cabled to the indicator where translation occurs. Others are connected to summing junction box where box sums all the analog readings from multiple load cells, converts it to a digital signal and sends that signal to the digital weight indicator.
Hydraulic Load Cell (pressure transmitters)
Unlike other load cells, hydraulic load cell does not contain strain gauge or an internal circuit. They contain hydraulic fluid and during compression, a change in pressure is created and transmitted via tube to a summing system where the pressure is applied to a load cell to find the weight.
Analog to Digital Load Cell
Some load cells perform as the analog-to-digital signal converter within the load cell housing. Making the conversion from analog to digital signal allows the system to compare the output of individual load cell and performs a diagnostic analysis based in that information.
Types of Load Cell Found in Weighbridge
· Double Ended Shear Beam Load Cell
· Canister
· Rocker Column
Load Cells are generally manufactured either in Stainless Steel or Alloy Steel
Stainless Steel Load Cell
Stainless steel load cells are more expensive than alloy load cells. Sometimes they are fitted with hermetically sealed web cavities, which makes them ideal for rusting and moist application.
Alloy Steel Load Cell
Alloy Steel load cell suppliers are most popular these days. The cost to performance ratio is better as compared to stainless steel load cells.
If you are looking to buy weighbridge you must check for weighbridge manufacturer and type of load cell they are providing to you whether it is a branded keli load load supplier or a local load cell provider and what are their guarantee.
